Grade 4 Program
Our Grade 4 program at Yuzana Alinn Private School marks an important transition in elementary education as students move into upper elementary studies. This year, students build on their foundational skills and begin to tackle more complex academic challenges that require deeper analytical thinking and greater independence.
In Grade 4, students develop advanced reading comprehension strategies, write more sophisticated multi-paragraph compositions, and explore complex mathematical concepts including fractions, decimals, and multi-step problem solving. Our curriculum encourages students to think critically, ask thoughtful questions, and make connections across different subject areas.
Our Grade 4 classrooms are dynamic learning environments where students are encouraged to take ownership of their learning, collaborate with peers, and develop their unique strengths and interests. We balance academic rigor with creativity and exploration, helping students build the knowledge, skills, and confidence they need for continued success in upper elementary and beyond.

- Mathematics: Multi-digit multiplication and division, fractions and decimals, measurement conversions, geometry concepts, data analysis and graphing, and multi-step word problems.
- Science: Energy and electricity, ecosystems and adaptation, earth processes, the solar system, and conducting controlled experiments with variables and data collection.
- Social Studies: Regional geography, state and national history, government structures, economic principles, and cultural studies with an emphasis on research and critical thinking.
- Technology: Digital literacy, keyboarding proficiency, multimedia presentations, basic coding concepts, and responsible digital citizenship.
Learning and Development Focus
In Grade 4, we focus on developing students' academic independence, critical thinking abilities, and social-emotional skills. Our approach emphasizes both academic excellence and character development, preparing students for the increasing demands of upper elementary and middle school.
Key areas of focus include:
- Study Skills: Note-taking strategies, test preparation, organization of materials, and time management for long-term projects.
- Critical Analysis: Evaluating information from multiple sources, distinguishing fact from opinion, and supporting arguments with evidence.
- Research Skills: Formulating research questions, gathering information from diverse sources, synthesizing findings, and presenting results.
- Problem-Solving: Applying various strategies to solve complex problems, explaining reasoning, and evaluating solutions.
- Collaboration: Working effectively in diverse groups, contributing meaningfully to team efforts, and resolving conflicts constructively.
- Leadership: Taking initiative, demonstrating responsibility, and positively influencing peers through example and encouragement.
- Self-Reflection: Assessing personal strengths and challenges, setting meaningful goals, and developing strategies for improvement.
